"Yellow is a Color." 2019

But of course it's a color. I know that, you know that. But Yellow is nonetheless a Color.

Yellow is the color ascribed to East Asians by Europeans in the 17/1800s. Yellow is the color of model minority. Yellow is the color of people who work hard, study hard, and hit a bamboo ceiling. Yellow is the color that is occasionally left behind when we think of People of Color. Yellow is the second color of privilege. Yellow is the color of silence because we have it 'good enough'.
"It wasn't worth raising you" 1-9-19
Read from left to right (English) or top to bottom (Chinese), either way, it wasn't worth raising you. You.
"It wasn't worth raising you", a not uncommon saying from a Chinese mother to a child, it implies the weight and burden of being a provider and the expectation for the child to oblige in return for the favor.
"It wasn't worth raising you", in the American context are powerful words. They're almost downright abusive in a culture where having food and shelter are a given, love and belonging is an expectation, and self esteem is the latest big thing we try to instill in our children.
